It’s 2024

2024. It’s hard to believe we have been around the sun one more time and about to begin another journey. This year will be bittersweet for me, as I imagine it might be for other people my age and possibly facing retirement. For me, most likely, it will be the end of a 40+ year career and the beginning of something new. I never really ever considered retirement until some things changed at the company I work for. But at the same time I am excited about starting something new. It may not (or maybe it will) bring a paycheck like I have been used to, but it will allow me to expand and learn new things and do something I feel will be a lot of fun and rewarding, and keep me and my mind active.

So while I am still gainfully employed, I am preparing myself with the workspace and tools I feel I will need to be successful. My garage will serve as my workshop and now that Christmas is done, my wife and I have moved all of those ornaments and boxes of lights back into the attic where they belong. My wife, Jill, normally does not like to throw anything away in case “we might need it” down the road. Well, something got into her and she went through our attic and was tossing things out right and left. I was amazed, but that also created a lot of room to move other things from the garage up there that we don’t use very often and create more space for my new adventure.

In the meantime, I do have three projects that I will be working on and when done will post before and after pictures. I figure this is the time to hone some skills and learn new techniques.

And for those who of you who will also be starting your next season this year, I would love to know what it is going to look like.
